Carrera Ski Racing Team: double victory in Bormio

The Carrera Ski Racing Team celebrated the end of the year with a superb double victory in Bormio, where the coming FIS World Championships will take place in a month. Austria's Johann Grugger won his first World Cup race on the windy “Stelvio” course on Dec. 29th.
Grugger was pretty proud to become the 30th Austrian to win a downhill and the seventh to triumph in Bormio. «I'm living an incredible moment, I'm speechless,” he said after the race. “Things went really fast for me. Only a year and a month ago, I started my World Cup career in Lake Louise.”

In reaching his fourth downhill podium in five races, Michael Walchhofer confirmed his strong form in this specialty and reinforced his chance for the downhill World Cup title. He is now 2nd in the downhill standings, only 15 points behind Bode Miller! After the race, he told the press that he planned to donate most of his prize money to the victims of the Tsunami which hit the South-Asian countries.

Since the beginning of the season, Carrera dominated the speed events with most podium finishes thanks to skiers as Walchhofer and Grugger.
