Ski2b 28.01.2007 14:22 Uhr

11:29:

The second super G in San Sicario takes place at 11.45 (CET) on January 28th.

11:31 - Götschl, Renate (AUT):

Welcome to the second super G in Italian San Sicario after two races won by Renate Goetschl!

11:32 - Götschl, Renate (AUT):

We can be curious about whether the Austrian makes it for the third time today.

11:35 - Mancuso, Julia (USA):

Or will the US-American girls Julia Mancuso or Lindsey Kildow be able to score a victory on the Olympic slope?

11:37 - Ruiz Castillo, Caroline (SPA):

As the race takes place 15 minutes earlier than planned we will see Carolina Ruiz Castillo on the slope right now.

11:38 - Ruiz Castillo, Caroline (SPA):

She sets the first benchmark in 1:32,89 minutes. We will see what this time is worth.

11:39 - Ceccarelli, Daniela (ITA):

Italian Daniela Ceccarelli cannot beat the Spaniard´s time. She is already 78 hundredth of a second behind.

11:41 - Lindell-Vikarby, Jessica (SWE):

Swede Jessica Lindell-Vikarby gets closer to the best time but she cannot beat it either. That´s position two for her.

11:42 - Sponring, Christine (AUT):

But now Christine Sponring is clearly in front at the intermediates. How big will her margin be in the finish?

11:43 - Sponring, Christine (AUT):

By more than 2,5 seconds the Austrian takes the lead. She can be really satisfied with this run.

11:44 - Wirth, Katja (AUT):

Her team mate Katja Wirth cannot even get close to the time. Nevertheless she takes over position two so far.

11:46 - Alcott, Chemmy (GBR):

Chemmy Alcott is on her way down the slope now. What will she show us?

11:47 - Alcott, Chemmy (GBR):

In the upper part still close to Sponring´s time she loses speed in the course of her run and drops back on three in 1:32.52 minutes.

11:49 - Janyk, Britt (CAN):

Britt Janyk from Canada is the first woman who isn´t too far away from Sponring´s time. By only 28 hundredths of a second she misses the lead.

11:51 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

Although she is more than one second behind the leader the time is enough to rank on three so far for Maria Riesch.

11:53 - Ludlow, Libby (USA):

Libby Ludlow has the same problem like many other skiers. She is fast in the upper part but when it´s about sliding she loses time. She enters the finish behind Riesch on four.

11:55 - Fanchini, Nadia (ITA):

Nadia Fanchini is in a similar situation like her forerunner. Her run takes her to place four for the time being.

11:57 - Recchia, Lucia (ITA):

Lucia Recchia manages not to lose too much time in the lower part. The result is place three for the Italian so far.

11:58 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

Slalom-ace Marlies Schild is on her way now. How will she perform at the super G today?

11:59 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

It is position nine for her and perhaps she can gain some worthy points for the overall World Cup standings.

11:59:

Tina Maze clocks a new best time at the first intermediate.

12:01 - Maze, Tina (SLO):

But the Slovenian cannot keep her speed. At the end she loses 52 seconds on the leader Sponring. That means place three.

12:02:

The favorites are still to come.

12:02 - Jacquemod, Ingrid (FRA):

Ingrid Jacquemod is none of them today. She clocks as seventh.

12:05 - Simard, Genevieve (CAN):

Also Genevieve Simard is too far behind to threaten the athletes on the top five positions. She becomes tenth for the time being.

12:09 - Aufdenblatten, Fränzi (SUI):

Neither Fraenzi Aufdenblatten is a candidate for the victory today. She has to be satisfied with place seven at the moment.

12:11 - Clark, Kirsten (USA):

Kirsten Clark could have entered the top five with her run. But in the end a little mistake makes her lose time and she crosses the finish line on eight.

12:14 - Görgl, Elisabeth (AUT):

Austrian Elisabeth Goergl showed a promising start but her sliding wasn´t perfect. So 1,43 seconds behind her team mate she ranks on ten.

12:15 - Berger, Silvia (AUT):

Silvia Berger who is next drops back behind her team mate Goergl on eleven.

12:17 - Schild, Martina (SUI):

It wasn´t Martina Schild´s race. The Swiss is disappointed with the twelfth place in the finish area.

12:19 - Brydon, Emily (CAN):

Emily Brydon has to be glad that she reaches the top 20 at all on position 19. But it is doubtful whether she will catch World Cup points today.

12:20 - Sponring, Christine (AUT):

After 22 athletes yet there is no change in the order at the top. Sponring leads ahead of Janyk, Maze, Recchia and Riesch.

12:22:

What about Fischbacher who is next with bib 23?

12:24 - Fischbacher, Andrea (AUT):

That was not her day. Up to the finish Andrea Fischbacher almost loses three seconds on her team mate. That´s position 19.

12:25 - Vanderbeek, Kelly (CAN):

After a long time now Kelly Vanderbeek is at least able to attack the top five. She clocks 1:31,17 minutes and becomes fifth.

12:27 - Styger, Nadia (SUI):

By a hair Nadia Styger misses a place on the podium with her run. But the favorites will start off next.

12:28:

And Julia Mancuso is fast at the first intermediate. Will that be the new best time?

12:29 - Mancuso, Julia (USA):

No, also the US-American drops back. She loses time in the middle part as well as in the lower section. That is a disappointing place six for Mancuso.

12:31 - Hosp, Nicole (AUT):

What´s that? Nicole Hosp has a lot of work to stay among the top 20. She is 1,64 seconds behind and has to accept position 17.

12:33 - Meissnitzer, Alexandra (AUT):

It seems that Sponring´s time is unbeatable. Neither Alexandra Meissnitzer can get close to it. She is at a loss and doesn´t know where she has lost the time.

12:35 - Kildow, Lindsey C. (USA):

With a margin of a half second Kildow crosses the first intremediate. In the middle part she loses time, but is still in front by two hundredths of a second.

12:36 - Kildow, Lindsey C. (USA):

Up to the end she can widen her margin again. That´s the lead for Lindsey Kildow. Finally Sponring´s time is beaten.

12:38 - Götschl, Renate (AUT):

Renate Goetschl is hard on Kildow´s heels. She is very close to the best time at the intermediates. But by a hair Goetschl misses the lead.

12:39 - Kildow, Lindsey C. (USA):

So after 30 athletes the new order in the finish is Kildow ahead of Goetschl and Sponring. Probably nobody will change the order on the podium anymore.

12:41 - Holaus, Maria (AUT):

Maria Holaus can make a nineth place out of her excellent shape at the moment.

12:43 - Cook, Stacey (USA):

While Stacey Cook makes it to place 26, Nike Bent enters the finish on 30.

12:47 - Richardson, Kaylin (USA):

Kaylin Richardson can be happy about some further World Cup points today. She has made it to place 17.

12:55 - Stechert, Gina (GER):

With the high bib 42 Gina Stechert skis right into the top ten. That a fantastic result for the young German.

12:58 - Kildow, Lindsey C. (USA):

We say goodbye with Lindsey Kildow´s victory ahead of Renate Goetschl and Christine Sponring.

13:03:

That was the last women´s World Cup competition before the World Championships in Are. On February 4th we will be back with the women´s super G when the alpine ladies fight for the medals.
