Second Men's Downhill in Kvitfjell (NOR) 2008

At 11.30 a.m. the second downhill for the men is on the agenda in Kvitfjell (NOR).



11:47:

Due to the weather conditions the downhill was delayed to 12.00 p.m.



11:48:

New snow was the reason for the delay. But at 12.00 p.m. nothing should stay in the way for the second downhill in Kvitfjell.



12:02 - Cuche, Didier (SUI):

Were are looking forward to an exciting downhill and the fight between Didier Cuche and Bode Miller about the downhill World Cup.



12:02 - Gruber, Christoph (AUT):

First up we have Christoph Gruber from Austria. Yesterday he crashed. What can he do today?



12:07 - Gruber, Christoph (AUT):

Some problems in the middle part for Gruber but still a good run and he sets the first time.



12:09 - Olsson, Hans (SWE):

Staudacher is way behind and also Olsson after him has some problems with the course. Today with the fog and the weather the athletes are challenged.



12:12 - Raich, Benjamin (AUT):

Benni Raich misses a gate and is out. That is another disappointment for the Austrian as he loses again a lot of points.



12:16 - Innerhofer, Christof (ITA):

Innerhofer from Italy has a good line in the top part but in the end he makes some mistakes and falls beind. That could have been a better result for the Italian.



12:21 - Baumann, Romed (AUT):

The young Austrian Baumann has a great run now and gets the best time. That was a good run by the Austrian.



12:22 - Maier, Hermann (AUT):

Hermann Maier now is not as aggressive as he should be to be in the top. He comes in as fourth.



12:23 - Hoffmann, Ambrosi (SUI):

Crash from Hoffmann now. He has some problems in the middle part and goes out. But nothing bad happened.



12:30 - Heel, Werner (ITA):

After a short interruption we have yesterday's winner Heel who also today has a great run and gets to the top. That might another top result for the Italian.



12:31 - Guay, Erik (CAN):

Guay skis better than yesterday and is second for the moment. Some problems in the middle part were too much to get to the top rank.



12:37 - Nyman, Steven (USA):

Nyman now crashes out in the same section as Hoffmann. But also the American is right away on his feet. But he is angry at himself of course.



12:41 - Defago, Didier (SUI):

Defago is not aggressive enough here. With this performance he can't be at the top and therefore the Swiss is behind.



12:42 - Kröll, Klaus (AUT):

Another great run now by Kroell who was at the podium also yesterday. Today he misses the first place only by 0,01 seconds.



12:46 - Cuche, Didier (SUI):

After Kroell we have Didier Cuche, one of the favorites. He skis a good line and is also in the middle part ahead. In the end it is the first place for the Swiss racer.



12:49 - Büchel, Marco (LIE):

After Cuche Buechel crashes out and is of course not happy. That was a mistake from the experienced racer.



12:50 - Walchhofer, Michael (AUT):

Walchhofer is on a good way in the top part but then he loses some time in the end. That is the fourth place for him for the moment.



12:52 - Miller, Bode (USA):

Another great performance by Bode Miller we have here now. He skis again a great line and is therefore ahead in the end. So it was another Bode day here in Kvifjell with Raich skiing out earlier.



12:57 - Jerman, Andrej (SLO):

After Miller, Jerman is way behind. With this performance he is not in the top rankings. He is only 15th.



12:59 - Sullivan, Marco (USA):

Now already the third crash at the same position. Marco Sullivan also gets on his feet again and nothing bad happened there as well.

We have a short break since the fence has to be repaired.



13:08 - Osborne-Paradis, Manuel (CAN):

Osborne-Paradis had a great run yesterday and also today he is in a good way. But in the end he loses too much time in the lower part and is fifth.



13:10 - Clarey, Johan (FRA):

Some problems for Clarey in the middle part and therefore he is behind in the end.



13:11 - Streitberger, Georg (AUT):

Streitberger is way better on his run and is therefore in the top ten. That was a good run by the Austrian.



13:13 - Grünenfelder, Tobias (SUI):

Also Poisson has no chance to attack the best time. After him we have Gruenenfelder who misses a gate and skis out.



13:18 - Schönfelder, Rainer (AUT):

Schoenfelder has now a bad visibility as fog comes through the course. The Austrian is not in the top ten and is not happy about the result. He didn't have the best run.



13:20 - Bertrand, Yannick (FRA):

Also Betrand has no chance here but after his decent run he is 11th at the moment. The course conditions got worse though.



13:21 - Kucera, John (CAN):

Canadian Kucera has not the best day and is way behind. He is only 20th at the moment.



13:23 - Miller, Bode (USA):

That should do it for today's downhill. Bode Miller wins the downhill ahead of Didier Cuche and Werner Heel. Congratulations to Miller.

Miller extends his lead in the Overall World Cup and also the downhill World Cup is not decided yet. We are back tomorrow with the super G at 11.00 a.m. Until then!
