09:05:

On Sunday, January 27th there will be a women´s slalom in Ofterschwang (GER). The first run starts at 9:30 am (CET).

09:06:

Welcome to the women´s slalom in Ofterschwang!

09:09:

In Ofterschwang it´s quite warm outside like in Maribor lastly. So the conditions on the piste may be difficult at four degrees above zero.

09:10:

In yesterday´s giant slalom Denise Karbon scored her fifth victory of the season. Who will be on top today?

09:12 - Hosp, Nicole (AUT):

The last slalom took place in Maribor on January 13th. Then Nicole Hosp won ahead of Veronika Zuzulova and Marlies Schild. Yesterday Hosp became second. She is one of the favorites today.

09:13 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

Of course also her team mate Marlies Schild is a candidate for the victory. The Austrian is second in the slalom World Cup standings at the moment.

09:15 - Zuzulova, Veronika (SVK):

But there are others as well who can get in on in the front. Veronika Zuzulova or World Champion Sarka Zahrobska for example.

09:16 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

The German ladies showed a strong team performance in slalom lastly. Most of all Maria Riesch who has already been on the podium in this discipline this winter.

09:18 - Zahrobska, Sarka (CZE):

Who profits most by an early bib? Zahrobska starts off as first. And also the Austrians Schild as second and Hosp as forth will complete their first run early.

09:23:

Soon the first forerunner will be on the course. Let´s look forward to an exciting race!

09:29 - Zahrobska, Sarka (CZE):

Now Czech Sarka Zahrobska gets ready for her start.

09:31 - Zahrobska, Sarka (CZE):

The Czech clocks the first time in 49.51 sedconds. Soon we will know what this time is worth.

09:33 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

In the first part of the hill Marlies Schild is clearly faster. She takes the better line. This must be one of her sensational performances. In the finish she is more than one second ahead.

09:34 - Borssen, Therese (SWE):

Schild´s time was very good. That also shows Therese Borssen´s run. She clocks the same time as Zahrobska and they share the second place so far.

09:36 - Hosp, Nicole (AUT):

Now it´s Nicole Hosp´s turn. She is already 75 hundredths behind at the intermediate. Also in the lower section she has big difficulties to keep the line. That´s only place four with a deficit of 1,32 seconds.

09:37 - Zuzulova, Veronika (SVK):

Veronika Zuzulova can do better. Although she cannot reach Schild´s time she gets closest to the minimum time so far. That´s place two with a deficit of nine tenths.

09:39 - Poutiainen, Tanja (FIN):

What about Tanja Poutiainen? The Finn is already half a second behind at the intermediate. Up to the finish she loses further five tenths and ranks on place three for the time being.

09:40 - Jelusic, Ana (CRO):

Nobody seems to get close to Schild´s time. Neither Ana Jelusic is able to reach it. The Croatian becomes sixth for the time being.

09:41 - Kirchgasser, Michaela (AUT):

Unfortunately Michaela Kirchgasser is the first one who doesn´t finish her run.

09:42 - Costazza, Chiara (ITA):

Chiara Costazza is next. She is among the top ten in the slalom World Cup standings. In this run she must accept place eight so far.

09:43 - Pärson, Anja (SWE):

Swede Anja Paerson is on her way now. Good time at the intermediate for her! Only 35 hundredths behind. But she cannot finish the run either. A mistake makes her drop out.

09:46 - Loeseth, Nina (NOR):

No chance today for Nina Loeseth. The Norwegian crosses the intermediate with a deficit ofmore than a second. In the lower part she is too far away from the poles to catch up. That´s the last place for the Norwegian.

09:47 - De Leymarie, Florine (FRA):

Florine de Leymarie cannot do much better. She has her difficulties with the piste as well. Not satisfied with her run she enters the finish on nine.

09:47 - Zettel, Kathrin (AUT):

Kathrin Zettel starts off now. After her we will see Maria Riesch.

09:48 - Zettel, Kathrin (AUT):

The Austrian clocks as nineth in the finish. Only de Leymarie and Loeseth rank behind her.

09:50 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

Good time for Maria Riesch at the intermediate time measurement. But in the lower section she loses her rhythm and doesn´t continue her good line. So she drops back on eight.

09:51 - Pietilae-Holmner, Maria (SWE):

With Maria Pietilae Holmner we see the next Swede. Her deficit is very big as well as she doesn´t get along with the course at all. Position twelve for her.

09:52 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

After 15 starters Marlies Schild has set the clear and great minimum time and leads ahead of Veronika Zuzulova and Tanja Poutiainen.

09:54 - Mölgg, Manuela (ITA):

After a little break Manuela Moelgg takes up her race. Neither she gets in on in the fornt. She crosses the finish line as twelfth.

09:55 - Mancuso, Julia (USA):

That´s the next drop out. Julia Mancuso misses a gate and cannot finish her run.

09:56 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

Lindsey Vonn who dominates the speed disciplines has started off. What can she show in slalom today?

09:57 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

Only 29 hundredths behind at the intermediate! But probably she performed a bit too risky. Also the next US-American drops out.

09:58 - Bergmann, Monika (GER):

For Monika Bergmann it´s important to finish the run as she is able to catch up in the final. And she does, she clocks as eleventh so far.

09:59 - Gius, Nicole (ITA):

After her Italian Nicole Gius enters the finish as twelfth.

10:01 - Hansdotter, Frida (SWE):

But Gius´ place is gone now as Frida Hansdotter has taken it over now with a deficit of 2,11 second son Schild.

10:02 - Hölzl, Kathrin (GER):

Clocking with a deficit of 2,62 seconds Kathrin Hoelzl takes over the last position of the field in front of her home audience and isn´t satisfied.

10:06 - Camastral, Aita (SUI):

Aita Camstral is good on her way in the upper part. But after a big mistake in the lower section she must climb back to get the gate. The Swiss drops back behind Hoelzl in the finish.

10:07 - Gini, Sandra (SUI):

Finally we see one more top ten arrival. Sandra Gini attacks the gates and finds a good line so that she finishes as ninth. Well done!

10:08 - Aubert, Sandrine (FRA):

Sandrine Aubert is less lucky. The lower section causes her big problems and she loses a lot of time there. It´s place 20 in teh finish. Will that be enough for the final?

10:09 - Fleiss, Nika (CRO):

At Nika Fleiss´ run it´s similar. She is too far away from the right line in the lower part. She even clocks behind Aubert.

10:11 - Chmelar, Fanny (GER):

The next German Fanny Chmelar has taken up the race. She shows an average performance and takes over place 20 so far.

10:12 - Bonjour, Aline (SUI):

The results of the last 15 starters also show that the conditions on the course have become pretty difficult. Also Aline Bonjour has to fight with the course. She enters the finish on 23.

10:13 - Karasinska, Katarzyna (POL):

Katarzyna Karasinska doesn´t get along with the course at all and clocks as last.

10:14 - Dautherives, Claire (FRA):

One more woman follows and the first 30 starters will have completed the first run. Claire Dautherives makes it to place 19. That was good!

10:17 - Görgl, Elisabeth (AUT):

Big mistake for Lizzy Goergl in the upper part. She must climb back. Up to the finish she loses more than seven seconds on the leader. That´s the last place of course.

10:19 - Riesch, Susanne (GER):

With a deficit of 2,79 seconds on Schild Susanne Riesch takes over position 21 in the finish.

10:22 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

After 35 athletes have completed the first run Marlies Schidl who started off as forth has clocked the minimum time far ahead of Veronika Zuzulova and Tanja Poutiainen.

10:23 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

If she doesn´t have to figth with bigger problems in the final she should be able to make it to her next victory in this discipline.

10:23:

As her competitors are very close together within the top ten it will be an exciting fight for the places on the podium in the second run.

10:24:

We will report on the final in our liveticker right in time. It starts at 12.30 pm (CET). Until then!

12:21:

Welcome back from Ofterschwang. In a few minutes the slalom final begins and soon we will know who becomes today´s winner!

12:22:

The conditions haven´t changed. It´s still cloudy in Ofterschwang but the workers have done anything to prepare the piste well to guarantee fair conditions for everyone.

12:24 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

Marlies Schild scored a sensational best time in run number one. She is the top favorit. If she takes down another solid run she will be the winner.

12:25:

The forerunners will be on the course in a few minutes. Then the final is opened by Czech Eva Kurfuerstova who became 30th in the first run.

12:30 - Kurfürstova, Eva (CZE):

The Czech has started off. What can she show us now?

12:31 - Kurfürstova, Eva (CZE):

She clocks in 1:44,90 and so is slower than in the first run.

12:32 - Müller, Anne Marie (NOR):

Anne Marie Mueller follows her as second. She attacks the poles and is rewarded with the clear best time.

12:34 - Fleiss, Nika (CRO):

Nika Fleiss in on her way. She cannot defend her lead in the steeper lower section and drops back on two.

12:35 - Goodman, Anna (CAN):

In the flat part the next starter Anna Goodman can enlarge her margin but in the lower part she drops back as well and clocks as third.

12:36 - Aubert, Sandrine (FRA):

Great performance in the upper part for Sandrine Aubert. She is nine tenths in front. What about the rest? She keeps her margin even in the steep part of the hill. Place one for the French!

12:38 - Nigg, Marina (LIE):

At Marina Nigg from Liechtenstein it´s the other way round. She has problems in the flat part but then she catches up again. After all it´s not enough for place one, she clocks s second.

12:39 - Chmelar, Fanny (GER):

Fanny Chmelar from Germany doesn´t go down the hill risky enough. She is too cautious and that is reflected by her time. That´s only place three.

12:40 - Ferk, Marusa (SLO):

Marusa Ferk doesn´t let her ski run in the upper section. At the intermediate she has already dropped back. Up to the finish it´s more than a second.

12:42 - Fernsebner, Carolin (GER):

Neither Carolin Fernsebner reaches Aubert´s time. She crosses the finish line as fifth.

12:43:

Maria Riesch´s sister Susanne follows her team mate. She drops out before she reaches the first intermediate. That´s bad luck.

12:45 - Hölzl, Kathrin (GER):

Kathrin Hoelzl is on her way to undercut the minimum time. Above she is still a bit behind but than she catches up hundredths by hundredths. In the finish she takes over the lead by a hair.

12:46 - Dautherives, Claire (FRA):

Good performance now for Claire Dautherives. She finds an excellent rhythm and takes it down to the finish. The French is the new leader by 16 hundredths.

12:47 - Loeseth, Nina (NOR):

Young Nina Loeseth shows that she wants to attack the best time. She goes down the course risky and is rewarded with the lead.

12:49 - Pietilae-Holmner, Maria (SWE):

The next Scandinavian wants to remain in front as well. Maria Pietilae-Holmner doesn´t want to give in and succeeds a flawless run. She takes over the lead so far.

12:50 - Mölgg, Manuela (ITA):

But the next starter misses gate and drops out as well. It´s Manuela Moelgg from Italy.

12:54 - De Leymarie, Florine (FRA):

Florine de Leymarie will lose a lot of time. She almost misses a gate and gets so slow that she has to use her poles to get forward in the flat part. That´s only the last place.

12:55 - Gius, Nicole (ITA):

Also Nicole Gius has bad luck. She must climb back as she misses a gate. She clocks as 15th with a deficit of more than six seconds.

12:56 - Hansdotter, Frida (SWE):

A courageous run is shown by Frida Hansdotter in the upper part. But she makes some mistakes in the lower section. That makes her drop back on eight.

12:58:

Great performance in the upper part for Monika Bergmann, She is very fast there. Can she take this down to the finish? Yes, a little mistake in the steep section doesn´t cost too much time. She is nine tenths in front now.

13:00 - Zettel, Kathrin (AUT):

The next starter, Kathrin Zettel, cannot catch up on Bergmann. She takes over place three behind Bergmann and the Swede Pietilae-Holmner.

13:01 - Costazza, Chiara (ITA):

Chiara Costazza has difficulties to keep a clean line. But she manages to stay in front as she does better in the lower section. That´s the new leader!

13:03 - Gini, Sandra (SUI):

Another good run is shown by Sandra Gini. But she cannot attack the minimum time. In the end she shares place two with Monika Bergmann with a deficit of half an hour behind Costazza.

13:04 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

Now it´s Maria Riesch´s turn. Can she show another good slalom run today?

13:06 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

No bigger mistakes are obvious in her run. But she doesn´t attack so much. In the end it´s not enough for the best time. Riesch clocks as second so far.

13:08 - Hosp, Nicole (AUT):

Fantastic first section for Hosp. In the steep part she is a bit late but will that influence her time in the end. No, the Austrian manages to stay in front by 14 hundredths.

13:09 - Jelusic, Ana (CRO):

Only the best six of the first run are left at the start. First of all we will see Ana Jelusic. She already drops back at the first intermediate, then she misses a gate. Climbing bacj she loses too much time. Can she save some World Cup points?

13:10 - Jelusic, Ana (CRO):

So far it´s place 23 with a deficit of more than 15 seconds.

13:11 - Zahrobska, Sarka (CZE):

What about Sarka Zahrobska? It´s her turn now. In the upper part she succeeds but than she loses her rhythm. It´s place three behind Costazza and ahead of Riesch.

13:12 - Borssen, Therese (SWE):

Therese Borssen manages to remain in front but she loses a bit of her margin. She keeps on fighting and saves the lead up to the finish.

13:15 - Poutiainen, Tanja (FIN):

That´s no good second run for Tanja Poutiainen. Up to the intermediate she has lost her whole margin. It´s impossible for her to catch it up again in the steep part. The Finn drops back behind Borssen.

13:16 - Zuzulova, Veronika (SVK):

Veronika Zuzulova chooses a close way around the poles but she is not fast enough. That´s only place three for her so far and probably she won´t be on podium today.

13:18 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

Actually nothing should go wrong for Marlies Schild now. Her margin is too big. But than a mistake! What does it cost? Another error. But she manages to stay in front. That was tight!

13:18 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

So the decision has been brought about! Marlies Schild wins ahead of Therese Brssen and her team mate Nicole Hosp.

13:20 - Zuzulova, Veronika (SVK):

Veronika Zuzulova, Tanja Poutiainen and Chiara Costazza take over positions four to six. Maria Riesch becomes eighth in the end.

13:21:

That was our coverage from Ofterschwang. We will be back with the women´s downhill in St. Moritz on February 2nd at 12.30 pm (CET). Until then!
