11:11:

The second women´s downhill in St. Moritz will take place today at 12.30 pm (CET). We will keep you posted in our liveticker right in time.

12:08:

Welcome to the women´s downhill in St. Moritz. Today another downhill is on the agenda.

12:09:

This season it´s already the second time that the women stop in St. Moritz because in december they struggled for World Cup points in two speed competitions that replaced Val d´Isère.

12:11 - Pärson, Anja (SWE):

Two month ago it was Anja Paerson who climbed to the top of the podiium in both races. Lastly she wasn´t in a good shape. Can she get back to her performance today?

12:13 - Brydon, Emily (CAN):

Many favorites come from the Canadian team. Emily Brydon set the minimum time in both trainings. Also her team mates Britt Janyk and Kelly Vanderbeek collected many World Cup points lastly.

12:14 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

Lindsey Vonn leads in the downhill World Cup at the moment. The US American dominated most of the speed competitions lastly. She has best chances to repeat her good results today.

12:15:

Beside the Swiss ladies who want to perform strongly in front of the home audience also the Austrians are ready to attack.

12:16 - Götschl, Renate (AUT):

Renate Goetschl only made it to the podium once on her favourite course in Cortina. Can the speed queen strike back today?

12:19 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

Maria Riesch is quick as well at the moment. With a good result she can overtake Marlies Schild once again in the overall World Cup standings.

12:20 - Ceccarelli, Daniela (ITA):

At 12.30 pm the Italian Daniela Ceccarelli will be the first athlete on the Corviglia. The first forereunner will go down the piste at 12.23 pm.

12:27:

The workers on the course have been very busy since the early morning hours as 15 cm fresh snow have fallen during the night. But now the Corviglia should be prepared very well.

12:28:

The sight is not too good in St.Moritz. It´s a big foggy and cloudy and snow is still falling. Let´s wait and see how the ladies get along with these conditions.

12:35 - Ceccarelli, Daniela (ITA):

Now finally the forerunners are on the course. So Daniela Ceccarelli is supposed to start in a few minutes.

12:40 - Ceccarelli, Daniela (ITA):

Now the Italian in on her way. How will she get along with the conditions?

12:41 - Ceccarelli, Daniela (ITA):

No bigger mistakes are obvious. In 1:46,45 minutes she sets the first benchmark. What´s this worth?

12:43 - Berthod, Sylviane (SUI):

Sylviane Berthod is up next. At the first intermediate she already undercuts the minimum time. But in the next section she loses a few tenths. In the lower part the Swiss has no chance. Seven tenths behind Ceccarelli she becomes last so far.

12:45 - Meissnitzer, Alexandra (AUT):

It´s Alexandra Meissnitzer´s turn now. She doesn´t make mistakes but is not as fast as the Italian. The Austrian crosses the finish line 66 hundredths behind the leader.

12:46 - Hosp, Nicole (AUT):

While Niki Hosp starts off the sun comes out at the start. Her intermediate time is fast. Can she enlarge her margin up to the finish?

12:47 - Hosp, Nicole (AUT):

Yes, she also succeeds in the lower part and takes the clear lead by 73 hundredths.

12:49 - Gisin, Dominique (SUI):

The middle section doesn´t work well for the Swiss Dominique Gisin. Up to the finish she cannot catch up the deficit. That´s place three so far.

12:51 - Fischbacher, Andrea (AUT):

Andrea Fischbacher drops back in the upper part as she doesn´t find a clean line but she gets better in the lower section and gains tenths by tenths. In the finish she undercuts the minimum time by eleven hundredths.

12:53 - Dumermuth, Monika (SUI):

It seems as if the course becomes faster now. Monika Dumermuth is alreday 40 tenths in front at the second intermediate. Then she makes a mistake. She catches up again and takes the lead.

12:56 - Holaus, Maria (AUT):

Maria Holaus skis down the piste quite perfectly. The Austrian takes a good line and enlarges her margin constantly. That´s the lead for the Austrian! In the finish she cheers.

12:57 - Aufdenblatten, Fränzi (SUI):

Fraenzi Aufdenblatten races close to the minimum time at the first two intermediates. Then she gets away too far from a gate and must leave the course. That´s bad luck for the Swiss. She drops out.

12:59 - Görgl, Elisabeth (AUT):

Lizzy Goergl has improved a lot this season and scored her first World Cup triumph. She is fast on her way once more today but little mistakes makes her lose the lead in the end by eight hundredths.

13:01 - Styger, Nadia (SUI):

Nadia Styger manages the upper part quite well but then she is looking for the ideal line. Up to the finish the Swiss is one second behind.

13:03 - Marchand-Arvier, Marie (FRA):

The sight becomes better on the Corviglia. And Marie Marchand-Arvier profits by this in the upper section. In the lower part instead she struggles with the ideal line. It´s place three for the French in the finish.

13:06 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

Maria Riesch is very good on her way in the upper part. But then she slides away too far in one corner and it´s impossible for her to reach the next gate. That´s a pity for the German!

13:08 - Brydon, Emily (CAN):

Little mistakes make Emily Brydon lose worthy hundredths in the lower section. But she is the fastest. Can she catch ? No she misses the lead by four hundredths.

13:09 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

Marlies Schild is not satisfied with her run. But for the moment she is still within the top ten by 1,59 seconds behind the leader.

13:10 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

After the break we will see Lindsey Vonn on the Corviglia. Is she a candidate for the victory today?

13:11 - Holaus, Maria (AUT):

So far Maria Holaus leads ahead of Emily Brydon and Elisabeth Goergl.

13:14 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

Lindsey Vonn risks anything. She clocks the clear minimum time at the intermediate, is one second faster than Holaus, but she almost drops out! What kind of ride is this? Incredible. In the finish she misses the lead by eight hundredths and becomes third so far.

13:15 - Pärson, Anja (SWE):

Anja Paerson is looking for the ideal line but then she becomes the next victim of the corner where already Maria Riesch has dropped out.

13:17 - Jacquemod, Ingrid (FRA):

Ingrid Jacquemod´s performance is average today. She clocks as ninth in the finish.

13:19 - Mancuso, Julia (USA):

The sight has become worse again. It´s quite foggy in the upper section now while Julia Mancuso completes her run. This disadvantage only takes her to place 13.

13:20:

This fog is also the reason why the race is interrupted at the moment for a few minutes.

13:23 - Vanderbeek, Kelly (CAN):

Wearing bib 20 Kelly Vanderbeek is ready to start now. No she takes up the race.

13:25 - Vanderbeek, Kelly (CAN):

The Canadian has some problems on her way down to the finish due to the difficult conditions. That is also reflcted by her time. She only clocks as 14th and is two seconds behind.

13:27 - Götschl, Renate (AUT):

Actually Renate Goetschl shows a good and flawless performance but she is simply not fast enough. The last jump causes her trouble. She becomes ninth and is disappointed with this result.

13:30 - Janyk, Britt (CAN):

Neither Britt Janyk is able to attack the leaders. The Canadian is already far behind in the upper part. And she keeps on losing time constantly. Place 17 won´t make her happy today.

13:33 - Cook, Stacey (USA):

Stacey Cook is up next. She doesn´t manage the first section well. At the second intermediate she is already more than three seconds behind. That doesn´t work well for her today. It´s the very last place for the US-American.

13:35 - Alcott, Chemmy (GBR):

Neither Chemmy Alcott is able to get in on in the front. She has difficulties to stay in the race and drops back on place 20 in the finish.

13:38 - Fanchini, Nadia (ITA):

Is a result among the top ten possible for Nadia Fanchini today? At the intermediate it still looks good. But up to the finish she misses the best ten times by exactly four tenths.

13:40 - Rumpfhuber, Ingrid (AUT):

For Ingrid Rumpfhuber it is similar. She completes a good upper part but loses constantly in the middle and lower section. So it´s only place 13 for her behind Fanchini.

13:41 - Ruiz Castillo, Caroline (SPA):

Carolina Ruiz Castillo sets good times at the first two intermediates. But her difficulties in the middle and lower part become obvious as well. There she loses more than 1,5 seconds and clocks as 17th.

13:43 - Fanchini, Elena (ITA):

The next Fanchini sister is on her way. Aggin we see a good performance in the upper part this time by Elena Fanchini. But then it also becomes too difficult for her, she loses the ideal line and crosses the finish line as 14th in the end.

13:45 - Schild, Martina (SUI):

It seems as if nobody was able to attack the minimum time anymore. Neither Martina Schild gets close to it. The Swiss cannot even reach the top twenty.

13:47 - Borghi, Catherine (SUI):

Catherine Borghi completes the top 30 starters now. She fights but cannot handle the last section, either. That´s place 18 for her.

13:48 - Holaus, Maria (AUT):

After 30 starters Maria Holaus has set the minimum time ahead of Emily Brydon and Lindsey Vonn and Elisabeth Goergl, both on position three.

13:49 - Holaus, Maria (AUT):

That must be the second World Cup victory for the young Austrian who has got in shape so very well this winter!

13:53 - Gut, Lara (SUI):

Oh, but it´s getiing exciting once more. Young Swiss Lara Gut takes down a sensational fast run. She is ahead at all the intermediates and misses the lead in the finish by a hair, by only one hundredths of a second. Incredible!

13:55:

The sight has become much better again. That is reflected impressively by most of the starters who take up the race now.

13:57 - Wilhelm, Kathrin (AUT):

Kathrin Wilhelm for example has clocked as ninth in the meantime.

13:59 - Yurkiw, Larisa (CAN):

As Larissa Yurkiw falls Johanna Schnarf who has started off behind is forced to cut in her race. She is allowed to start again later.

14:03 - Smith, Leanne (USA):

After Leanne Smith has taken up the race the competition is interrupted again.

14:06 - Coletti, Alexandra (MON):

Alexandra Coletti is on her way now. Will we still see another skier who attakcs the lead?

14:08 - Casanova, Carmen (SUI):

No, she drops out as well. Neither Carmen Casanova starting after her is in front at the intermediates. She doesn´t finish, either.

14:09:

Her fall makes the organizers interrupt the race again.

14:17 - Schnarf, Johanna (ITA):

Many ladies doesn´t reach the finish now. With bib 36 we will see Johanna Schnarf again who gets a second chnace because she had to stop during her first run.

14:17:

Before she can begin the race is interrupted once more.

14:23 - Schnarf, Johanna (ITA):

Six ladies are still at the start. Now Schnarf is on her way.

14:25 - Schnarf, Johanna (ITA):

The long break wasn´t good for her. At the second intermediate she is already seven tenths behind. The lower part causes her so much trouble that she drops out.

14:27 - Stuffer, Verena (ITA):

Verena Suffer instead profits by the high bib and the better sight. She is only one hundredths behind at the second intermediate. She only loses four tenths in the lower section. Place six is a sensational result for the Italian!

14:28 - Maze, Tina (SLO):

Again the minimum time is in danger. Nobody had thought that there would be somebody left to attack it. Tina Maze is almost one second in front at the intermediate. That becomes the clear new best time. Very well done! The Slowenian cheers in the finish.

14:30 - Rebensburg, Viktoria (GER):

That´s also a chance for young Viktoria Rebensburg. But she doesn´t take her chance and suffers the next drop out.

14:32 - Aguilaniu, Aude (FRA):

It seems as if there were only two possibilties at the moment. Either attacking the minimum time or dropping out. For Aude Aguilaniu it´s the second case.

14:33:

Only two skiers are left. Will we see another one who can threaten the ladies who are on the podium at the moment?

14:36 - Morlans, Leyre (SPA):

While Leyre Morlans doesn´t reach the finish now the only one left at the start is Fabienne Suter.

14:38 - Suter, Fabienne (SUI):

And the race is completed now. Fabienne Suter enters the finish as seventh.

14:39 - Maze, Tina (SLO):

Congratulations to the winner Tina Maze. It´s her sixth World Cup victory, but her first one in downhill.

14:39 - Gut, Lara (SUI):

Maria Holaus becomes second ahead of 16 years young Lara Gut who fell into the finish.

14:40 - Brydon, Emily (CAN):

Many athletes profited by the better conditions in the second part of the race. So also Emily Brydon, Lindsey Vonn and Lizzy Goergl lost their places on the podium where they had ranked for quite a long time. But that´s racing!

14:43:

That was our coverage on an exciting women´s downhill in St. Moritz. We will be back with the women´s Super G in St. Moritz (SUI) on Sunday, February 3rd at 12 o'clock. Until then!
