12:26:

The women's downhill in Aspen had to be rescheduled due to heavy snow falls. New starting time is 18:45 h CET on december 8th. The super G competition planned for that day has been cancelled.

18:28:

Hello and welcome to the women's downhill in Aspen.

18:35:

The super-g, which was originally scheduled for today, will take place later on. It won't be carried out in the USA though, as the ladies will get back to Europe for their training next week already.

18:36 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

Today's top favorite is Lindsey Vonn, who was dominating in training.

18:37 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

A week ago, Vonn also won the downhill in Lake Louise.

18:39 - Götschl, Renate (AUT):

Renate Goetschl and Britt Janyk finished second and third there.

18:42 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

Maria Riesch was impressing in Lake Louise, too. She's one out of two German athletes competing today.

18:43:

The forerunners are already on the track testing the conditions.

18:44 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

Marlies Schild, leader of the overall world cup, will open today's race.

18:46:

It's snowing again in Aspen. We'll see whether the race will start on schedule.

18:48 - Schild, Marlies (AUT):

Schild is on the slope now and has already problems at the upper part. It looks more like super-g. Also running time was short:1.14.59 for Schild.

18:53 - Aufdenblatten, Fränzi (SUI):

Aufdenblatten almost took the wrong way at the end and of course lost time. She's behind Schild.

18:54 - Dumermuth, Monika (SUI):

After Dumermuth, who is behind in the standings, the race is discontinued for a short time.

18:57 - Merighetti, Daniela (ITA):

But now for Merighetti. She's behind soon and botches the rest of her run.

18:58 - Ruiz Castillo, Caroline (SPA):

Ruiz Castillo does better, she loses time below, too, but still finishes second.

19:01 - Janyk, Britt (CAN):

Janyk is doing good, too. She's heading down the slope confidentely and sets a new record. That was good run of the Canadian.

19:02 - Rumpfhuber, Ingrid (AUT):

Rumpfhuber in contrast is way too passive. No chance for her. Almost last place currently.

19:03 - Brydon, Emily (CAN):

No, Brydon as well isn't convincing. She was good in training though, but can't show it here.

19:05 - Marchand-Arvier, Marie (FRA):

The Frenchman is struggling with the slope, too. She lost her ideal line several times. Not a good run of her.

19:07 - Vanderbeek, Kelly (CAN):

After a good start, Vanderbeek can't get ahead here, because she also has some problems with the slope.

19:08 - Gisin, Dominique (SUI):

The Swiss Gisin is clearly behind at the finish.

19:09 - Fischbacher, Andrea (AUT):

Fischbacher drops way back, too. She also isn't fast enough.

19:11 - Meissnitzer, Alexandra (AUT):

Meissnitzer with a severe fall. She can't fully move, yet and is stil lying in the snow. That was to be suspected under this conditions.

19:15 - Meissnitzer, Alexandra (AUT):

The Austrian simply couldn't see the bumps on the track. What will the responsibles do now?

19:18 - Meissnitzer, Alexandra (AUT):

It's still snowing in Aspen. Meanwhile Meissnitzer is sitting again and talks to her person in support. They'll take her down later. It's still looks like she got injured.

19:22 - Meissnitzer, Alexandra (AUT):

They are now carrying Meissnitzer down. Of course the race is still interrupted.

19:25 - Meissnitzer, Alexandra (AUT):

This winter, Meissnitzer is competing for her last season Was this already the last time we saw the Austrian in the world cup?

19:27:

The race is still interrupted because they are currently working on the slope. As it's still snowing, there's a lot of fresh fallen snow on the track.

19:29:

A further forerunner is now on the slope before the race continues.

19:29 - Hosp, Nicole (AUT):

Meanwhile, Nicole Hosp decided not to start today.

19:30 - Görgl, Elisabeth (AUT):

Therefore now for Elisabeth Goergl.

19:32 - Görgl, Elisabeth (AUT):

Goergl had to slow down right after the intermediate time and loses time there. Still a good run of her, sixth place currently.

19:34:

But now for the favorites. The Austrian athletes can decide themselves now whether to start or not as announced by the Austrian team director Mandl.

19:35 - Jacquemod, Ingrid (FRA):

Jaquemod is too cautious. Understandable after Meissnitzer's fall.

19:36 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

But now for Vonn. She was best in training.

19:37 - Vonn, Lindsey C. (USA):

Good start, but she has some problems below. Third place currently.

19:38 - Mancuso, Julia (USA):

Also Mancuso is struggling with the many bumps. Last place for her.

19:39 - Riesch, Maria (GER):

How will Maria Riesch do? Clear deficit for her, too.

19:41 - Pärson, Anja (SWE):

Now for Paerson, how will she come along with these conditions? She loses time, too. Big mistake at the upper section. No chance.

19:42 - Götschl, Renate (AUT):

Goetschl is ahead at the upper section. But she can't keep the time below neither. Third place. Still a good run of her.

19:43 - Styger, Nadia (SUI):

The Swiss with some mistakes, too. She drops way behind. Can Janyk win here? Looks just like it!

19:45 - Schild, Martina (SUI):

Wild run of Schild, who's is really in good form. Fifth place for her. That was a really great performance of the Swiss!

19:46 - Cook, Stacey (USA):

Cook is risking a whole lot here. She doesn't seem to be afraid at all. But this doesn't help neiter. Only 19th place for her so far.

19:48 - Berthod, Sylviane (SUI):

Berthod is skiing down the slope cautiously and of course clearly drops back. She's at least not injured at the finish.

19:49 - Borghi, Catherine (SUI):

Borghi is ranked among the last places at the finish.

19:50 - Fanchini, Elena (ITA):

Elena Fanchini as well has no chance here. She isn't content at all.

19:54 - Bent, Nike (SWE):

No for Bent, but the conditions in this race are really near to being irregular.

19:56 - Alcott, Chemmy (GBR):

Now for Alcott, who had to wait for the start as they were just working on the slope again. But she can't get ahead, too. She's clearly behind at the finish.

19:57 - Holaus, Maria (AUT):

Holaus won't start today, too. Now for Resi Stiegler.

19:58 - Stiegler, Resi (USA):

Stiegler is heading down the slope and finishes in 24th place currently.

19:59 - Sponring, Christine (AUT):

Sponring and Schmidhofer, two further Austrian favorites, also decided not to start.

20:01 - Lawrence, Cherry (CAN):

The young Canadian Lawrence doesn't come along at all here. At the finish, she's very mad about the current conditions.

20:02 - Stechert, Gina (GER):

We are now awaiting Gina Stechert. How will she do?

20:05 - Barthet, Anne-Sophie (FRA):

And again a severe fall! This time it's Barthet, who got off her ideal line. She's screaming in pain.

20:06:

The race is of course interrupted again and will hopefully be quit, because these aren't regular conditions!

20:09 - Barthet, Anne-Sophie (FRA):

Barthet is obviously seriously injured. The other athletes are visibly shocked, too.

20:13 - Barthet, Anne-Sophie (FRA):

The race is still interrupted while they are attending to Barthet.

20:19:

It's not decided, yet how it'll go on. The race is still discontinued.

20:33:

The responsibles have finally stopped the race.

20:44:

That was it for the contented women's downhill in Aspen. The next ladie's event, a slalom, is scheduled for tomorrow, December 9th. The first heat of the race will start at 6:00 p.m. (CET) See you!
