Year after year, legions of skiers deem Lake Louise as North America's most attractive resort. This white paradise offers unsurpassable beauty in combination with an insurmountable expanse. These features have prompted the British Daily Telegraph to name it as "No.1 Ski Destination in the World."
Two Speed Races for the Women
For the speed racers in Lake Louise, the downhill and super G are some of the first steps for winning the little crystal balls awarded in each of the disciplines. It's therefore important for Kildow, Götschl and the other racers not to miss the start of the season and to start off the winter season on the right foot.

Three speed events were on the line in 2006. The first downhill saw the comeback of Germanys Maria Riesch: She went in with bib 10 and took the best time. On rank two: her friend Lindsey Kildow (USA). Kildow then won the second downhill ahead of Renate Götschl and Anja Pärson. In the super G it was then up to Austrias Goetschl to take the win. Once more Lindsey Kildow and Kelly Vanderbeek completed the podium.
The town Lake Louise lies 115 miles west of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, and played host to the Olympic games in 1988. The next larger town, Banff, is almost 40 miles away.
A peaceful town – Two filling stations Lake Louise is situated in British Columbia in the English speaking part of Canada and is, compared to Banff, a more peaceful town, consisting mainly of a few souvenir shops, two petrol stations, a grocers and of course a number of hotels.
Everything in the vicinity
It’s about two miles then to Lake Louise, where the 'Chateau Lake Louise' sits, one of the few hotels situated around the ski-region itself. If you drive 2 miles from Lake Louise in the other direction, you reach the ‘Whiskeyjack Lodge’ and the valley station for the four-man ski-lift, 'Friendly Giant'.
A wonderful ski-region
From there you have a wonderful opportunity to explore the entire region. Behind the skiing area from Lake Louise, experts can attempt tricky, steep slopes and bumpy runs. The bumpy run through the 'Paradise Bowl', or the difficult downhill slopes on the Ptarmigan are especially recommended. The coupled, four-man ski-lift 'Larch' offers downhill slopes for every taste.
Powdery snow and 'Monstermoguls'
The entire area is open to everyone, whether experienced or not. Wide, open bowls or popular slopes, expansive or steeper runs, virgin deep-snow or 'Monstermoguls', Lake Louise has it all. Four mountainsides are accessible by lift.
Something for every skier
The main skiing season in Lake Louise is from the beginning of November until the beginning of May. 40% of the slopes are suited to experienced skiers. But beginners and pros also have their share. 25% of the slopes are designated easy and 25% difficult. Only 10% of the region is not suitable for skiing with the all-day pass.
