Review on 2006
Last year the US-Americans were all-dominant in Val Gardena. Bode Miller beat the pants off all his competitors and made sure his second World Cup victory of the season. Christoph Gruber (AUT) and John Kucera (CAN) became second and third. One day later another US-American was on top of the podium. Steven Nyman blew up in the downhill competition and scored the first World Cup triumph of his career. Didier Cuche (SUI) who dominated the training sessions ranked barely behind him and only missed the victory by two hundredths of a second. Austrian Fritz Strobl became third.

Our live ticker will be online again a half hour before the start of the race.

A lovely setting
The accomodation possibilities and the restaurants, in the mountains as well as in the town itself, are first class. All in all, Val Gardena is a fantastic location for family skiing holidays. Off the slope as well there are numerous oppurtunities for amusement, day and night. Although it can get full here, and it’s sometimes necessary to take long lift rides to reach the beautiful slopes of the Sella-Ronda circuit, this skiing location is definitely worth a visit.

Ample snow-cannons on the slopes
Most of the slopes are suited to experienced riders, professionals should drive to Arabba, where they’ll find courses better equipped to meet their requirements. All skiers and snowboarders who want to deepen their knowledge of the sport can do so at the ski-school. The skiing region is very extensive, the lift system is efficient and on about 90 km of slopes snow-cannons stand ready in case of emergencies. The landscape is wonderful and generally one is well catered for here.
