Besides the two speed races scheduled in february, St. Moritz will host another downhill and super G competition in december, as these events could not take place as planned in Val d'Isere (FRA). St. Moritz is the cradle of winter sports. As host of two Winter Olympic Games (1928 and 1948) and three Alpine Ski World Championships (1934, 1974 and 2003), St. Moritz has earned an internationally-recognized name in the world of alpine skiing.

Review on january 2006
No races were held in St. Moritz in season 2006/2007. Due to a lack of snow, the schedules events were replaced to Val d'Isere. In 2006 the World Cup´s top-skiers visited St. Moritz in january. Two of three races were dominated by Michaela Dorfmeister (AUT). She could reach victories in downhill and super G, but in super-combined averted disaster by a hair. She almost clashed with an assistent who usually prepares the course after every single skier´s run during the race at a speed of 90 km per hour. At the end Janica Kostelic won the super-combined.
St. Moritz a myth?
Documently mentioned first in 1139, it's today a town in the Engadiner Alps and still a place of pilgrimage for the prominence, the rich and the beautiful. Here, the high society of the proms meet willingly as did the nobility in the past.
World Championships 2003 as the last highlight
The Alpine Skiing World Championships in March 2003 was so far the last of many highlights in the skiing town of St. Moritz. The most successful athletes there were Bode Miller on the men's side and Janica Kostelic on the women's side, who both won two gold medals.
Seeing and being seen
The many skiing pistes invite everybody to cruise on the skis, and the nice environment lets a lot of hearts beat higher. The pulse can get quite high on the scale. Not to be missed out should be the various offers for the sport freak, because for the body modification there is a lot to offer. The one who is fit and looks good can make good contact here.
