World championships host; 1950 already
The almost symbiotic relationship between the old and the new has had a continual effect on the character of the town and it’s development from an aspiring township with silver mines, in the late 19th century, until the present day. Shortly before, and after the second world war, sking in the surrounding hills became very fashionable, for the first time. You could say Aspen made it’s début 1950, presenting the alpine-skiing world championships to an international audience. After that the town blossomed to that what it is today.
Service plays a central role
